On the farm and within the plantations - Wild antelope are often sited - mainly duiker, bushbuck, reedbuck and the occasional bush pig can be seen. Over 100 species of bird found on the farm.

The Lodge @ Curry's Post is centrally situated for a trip along the Midlands Meander routes or further a field to the historic battlefield sites and majestic Drakensberg Mountains.
Please note that all the facilities below do not take place at The Lodge.


The Lodge is well located amidst numerous well appointed golf clubs - Boschoek, Howick Golf Club, Mooi River Golf Club, Sakabula Golf Club and a number of other in the Pietermaritzburg area.


Nature Reserves

Only a short distance from The Lodge, are a number of Nature Reserves, which can be traversed by vehicle or on foot. Umgeni, Midmar, Karkloof, Kamberg, Loteni, and a short drive away Weenen.

Water sports

We are close to Midmar and Albert Falls Dam's, which provide unbeatable facilities for yachting, water skiing, paddling and other water sports, the most famous being the annual Midmar Mile in February of each year.

History & Culture

The Howick, Karkloof and Nottingham Road areas provide numerous historical and cultural sites for those people interested in browsing through museums, viewing famous waterfalls and historical buildings. A little further a-field toward Escourt and Ladysmith (40 min drive) one can spend the day touring the historic Battlefield Route.


Micro light and helicopter trips

Trips can be arranged from either the airfield at The Lodge or alternatively from the Howick Airfield.
